coral bay seabed shots

These are a few screenshots from my lowance sounder with a drop camera running through it. They are very crappy shots but they give you an idea of what is there. They are in around 65m and when I took them we had just got a couple of reds that filled our bag limit. Believe it or not the sounder screen was going off here and a mate caught another 3 reds about 30m away while I was mucking around with the camera. This is the only time I have actually seen rock or reef up there, usually just sand with a few sponges and things. It is amazing just how little ground there is and you do not see much fish except triggerfish leatherjackets, small sharks and other small unknown thing and shitloads of bait type fish. In one of the shots you can see the bait which is bigger than you normally see.

 I drop my gopro regularly

Sun, 2020-06-28 17:01

I drop my gopro regularly and I have come to the conclusion that decent fish tend to get out of the way, I have lumps that I've pulled up 20 fish in a session off of and yet I still haven't captured any fish on camera other than crap fish.

Koden have a 3 or 5 kw sounder that has a camera interface so you can see actulay see what your fishing on, bit pricy though and I recon one of the cheap rov's would be cheaper.

Interesting Shots

Mon, 2020-06-29 12:10

Interesting shots - what camera were you using. Gopro normally clearier then that. Big cod on the bottom on the edge of the reef in the last shot. I got a camera coming out soon that is plug and play in all your new units. should be in tackle stores next month. Watch this space as the future of fishing will be live video : )

camera

The camera is just a $25 ebay job in a home made housing. OK in 35m at home but pretty crap in this depth.

I find at home the fish are quite inquisitive when they see the camera.Dhues will often come up for a close look.

Houlty, I am very interested in what you have coming.
