Took the boat in near dawesville a couple of weeks ago. Bagged out on the first drop getting 3 and 4 in a pot. Spent the next 2 pulls upgrading. Only down there hour and a half. Crabs were full as.

how long roughly do you let the nets soak before you pull them?

20-30mins is pretty good

but we drop the nets... go and have a scoop for about 30-45mins then go pull the nets, then drop them, scoop, until we get the bag limit...

20 -30mins?  Really?   We never wait that long.  I would have thought the crabs were full and nicked off by then?  I usually wait about 10 mins ( after dropping the last net) in Mandurah.   We usually do pretty well.

Not sure where to scoop harropino but by the time you read this now, you'll hopefully have had a big crab cookup anyway and you can tell us all where to scoop.

We pull the pots tip em all

We pull the pots tip em all into a secondary bucket, sort em out into size/undersize, put size ones into primary bucket, throw undersize ones overboard, and pull the pots again. Wait is no more than say 5-10 min.

I leave my nets in a min of 20-30 minutes and go dive for them while waiting if the water is clear enough.

Why?

Usually plenty of crabs up the estuary at this time of the year so why head up to Mandurah?

Launch the boat at Australind and head over towards the Belvedere grassy lawn and drop the nets in the bay jsut before you get to the point. Its a shelly sort of bottom and used to produce heaps of scabs years back. if no good there head back straight opposite the channel out from where the scenic drive starts or further down on the west side to where the pipeline used to come ashore.
