Cray Report

For those that are interested there were a few soft shell crays about today out a little deeper. Visibility was still atrocious but plenty of crays about, got our bag of 16 in one dive.

Our first pull was this morning. Forgot the bloody cray gauge, so got 15 out of 4 but threw back 5 that were touch and go.

Finally got my pots in this

Tue, 2017-11-28 08:51

Finally got my pots in this morning... Seabreeze stiffed me once again! Forecast 15knots but actual blowing 19 gusting to 22

Fairly hard going but made good speed on the way back in at it dropped off to 17knots. Windscreen wipers had a workout.

Front edge of the FFB behind GI. 15 - 19m with two on sand, 1 on the edge and 1 on the reef.

That sounds like the Kalbarri Willyweather

Tue, 2017-11-28 09:11

If they are forecasting 15kt, it's gusting over 20kt. I don't have a problem with Willyweather, if its from the SE through to SW, just add 5 knots. Works for me

Bagged out this morning. I got my 8 crays and had to put 6 back.

I've got my pots out about halfway between the shore and 3 mile in 10 meters of water.

Few other guys at the ramp also seemed to be bagging out.

The wind was much better than the forecast, so was a pretty easy run.

Whites

They are prolific at the moment, if you are NOR you should be bagging out.

I've been pulling my pots every second day and maxed out every time, today we had 20 keepers in one pot.

They are not hard to find if you take the time to ensure you set decent pots in the right places, I don't know him but Hezzy put some very good tips on this thread and he is spot on.

Cheers

Luck needs to change !

Thu, 2017-11-30 16:05

Arrived home excited to start my season only to find the RCD tripped and all my fish fillets and bait ruined.Dealt with that but was too late to drop the pots in and the wind was in anyway. Headed out this morning and discovered I was low on fuel, appears some low life has siphoned my tank while I was away. Awesome.
All good now just waiting for the cray gods to do their work.

Sun, 2017-12-03 13:40

didn't see you i was looking out too.  I'm pretty sure your car wasn't on the beach when i came in. We were up early and in the water at 6:30 both days.  If only all beach launches were that easy. I was coming in and the guy that has the boat on the mooring got his trailer and tractor bogged right behind my car. They got it out pretty easy by unhiching and coming in at it at 90 degrees. A guy at the shop that i have spoken to at the beach told me fisheries were out there checking i got checked at the ramp afew weeks ago. Did that pot have any crays.

Good bag out diving behind

Mon, 2017-12-04 12:38

Good bag out diving behind garden island yesterday, my spot has been empty from potters until this week, felt bad setting anchor and diving on top of them but ha sharings caring LOL, only swam past 1 and it had good numbers from what i could see, trying to edit video to post shortly. best Vis so far this season and no surge making a very enjoyable swim.

Back of island is absolutely littered with pots.....ive never seen so many crays diving in my 12 years blowing bubbles.
