G'Day guys just curious as to how you people faired on Crays today, how many did you catch? I did'nt put my pots out as I thought it would be a waste of time with the Full Moon but curious to see how you guys went.

1 painted

Sat, 2008-11-15 15:34

Got 3 painteds in 15 minutes after fishing, released 2 small juniors, dropped 4 jumbo painteds and then got raped by one of those black spiny sea anenome, thats name escapes me at the moment, but is causing me to type with one finger after being to the hospice to be tidied up by a tidy nurse. Foot in mouth

Crays

Sat, 2008-11-15 16:20

Good to see you guys got a feed of Crays,BQ544 did you dive for your Crays? This morning off Bunbury back beach there were 100's of boats anchored on shallow reef in close I could just make out the diving flags off the back of the boats,I was walking my dog at the time. After seeing all this activity this morning I decided to bait my pots and put them in just north of town around some reef in about 8 metres we counted 10 other pots in the area so we're heading out early in the morning to beat the poachers.

Thanks for the reports guys it's really good news the Crays are about in good numbers, looks like a promising season ahead I might have to do some snorkelling later when water warms up a tad.

Cheers Kev

Been done by fire coral but not too bad, sea urchin is the one I'm refering too.  All the black tips snapped off in the end of both thumbs, 8 holes in left hand, 3 in right.  Not feeling too good after cricket and the half dozen beers.

Smash and grab

Sun, 2008-11-16 17:58

Ouch. Sounds like a smash and grab operation that went wrong Adam.

No diving for me this weekend apart from fending off amorous turtles at the back of Long Island. Frisky buggars they are.

crawlies!

Sun, 2008-11-16 09:33

Yeh took out Feral yesterday and we got 8 between us (plenty of cackers).  Saw shit loads more but the Full moon put them deep in their holes and low ledges making it hard. Pots on the full moon are always worth it, put them hard up on the base of the ground...should get some interest with plenty of bait to bring them out!

First cray dive also saw me iron out the kink's, next session (soon) will have me sharper......all in all had a great day!

softies

snared haf a dozen behind garden island shallow, but yeah, ryan's right - heaps of cackers, and all were deep in their holes. got some serious leg cramps gettin out of the caves!

every one of them was a soft-shell that hadnt finished malting. was a bugger cos it makes them harder to peel.
