Custom rod builders?

Hi guys, im having problems getting a few rods which i like! Im a fussy bugger and not many rods off the shelf make me happy without finding something i dont like. i have seen afew names of rod makers come up now and then so is there anyone that knows a builder that is worth gooing to. Ive got most of the equipment to do it at home but never have the time to spend on getting one made up. Contacts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris. Phone numbers can be sent ver pm if you wish.

Rohan Smith at Bluewater Morley does a great job and is very knowledgeable. He built me a custom calstar 760L late last year which is a joy to use for jigging up our local Sambo's.

Don't pester him at the moment though as he's just about to start my Calstar 700L.;)

I would Suggest

Wed, 2007-07-04 14:04

would suggest having a chat with Ian Bailey at "BAILEY'S BAIT BOX PORT KENNEDY" I know he makes rods for people and also knows what he is doing as he had a hand in the Van Staal rod deseign.

Bluewater Scarbs is definitly one to see as well.

I have a custom popper rod from Bluewater Morley and it's a joy to use ,I have pulled 15kilo GT's from exxy as well as herring from north mole and all sorts of fish in between with it just a fantastic rod to use , if you can afford it go CUSTOM.

Depends on what guides etc you are going for and they have a H U G E selection of blanks .

Kal ( forum member on here) has one built by them and it is a magnificent piece of art , I tried to buy it off him but he won't part with it .

( Kal how about $650 for it )

I would recommend the Double

Tue, 2007-07-10 20:47

I would recommend the Double Flex to only the serious fisherman as it is custom made for mainly big game. Its high strength and durability makes it a must have. Its double flex points are what put it above the rest on the market today. The only thing better than a single flex point is a double flex point. This rod is designed to flex at not one but two points wich increases its strenghth by 100% without increasing the weight or its price.I would highly recomend everyone have one at this price as its sure not to last much longer.
