Cygnet bay pearls.

 G'day all.

myself and two other families are planning to travel to cygnet bay pearls next year.

Has anyone had any experience up there with regards to launching boats. The road in from Broome can be good or bad depending on a lot of things, that doesn't faze me as I will do some modifications to suit .

To be specific I am wondering if it is possible to launch a 6+ mtr ally. I intend to ring the research station up there and ask as that is where the launch area is I believe.

I know it is a beach launch and from what I can see on google maps it is shallow for a bit. This would mean a wet car. Not ideal but if it gets us on good ground why not. Taking the boat isn't a deal breaker but if we are going that far I would like to as it's not every year I would get  up that way.

Anyway thanks for any advice you can offer. I have tried the search bar but it will not function on this device for some reason.

Cheers Brendan.

Boat launching

Mon, 2018-09-10 17:02

 Hey mate.

I used to work up at cygnet bay pearls, a few years ago now though. We used to launch the boats off the beach out the front daily. They were smaller boats than yours but we had no issues.

You are right about having to get your car wet, all tide dependant on how wet itll have to get of course. The beach was very solid so not an issue there though...

Cheers

 when we visitied cygnet bay

when we visitied cygnet bay to visit my cousin who was wroking up there, he would launch his tinny using the tractor there and then retreieve it with a really long strap and his drop down third wheel.

I woul dimagine you wouldnt be able to use the tractor and would have to be happy getting your car wet.

the sand was hard as anything so you wont get bogged, the fishing was fun, nothing big just little things but the scenery was amazing

good luck

 thanks everyone.

Sounds doable. Might try and ring someone local up there.

I had thought about launching at one arm point and leaving it on a pick at cygnet bay.

Bit more research I think before I commit to anything.

not too bothered if I don't take it. Murphy says that if I take it the weather will be shit and if I don't it will be perfect.

We will be going two weeks after being at coral bay for two weeks so might just hire a dinghy locally for a couple of days or just poke around in the mangroves getting muddy.

Either way it beats working

I belive one arm point and cygnet arent too far from the resort/camp place at cape levique, they have a beach there that ive seen people launch 5m+ boats on, or id go up one arm and pick the boat down at cygnet. Sh*t loads of tuna around cape levique side and big macks too.
