Daiwa Lateo Pirates 106 and 110 rods - Opinions wanted

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I'm seeking your feedback about the Daiwa Lateo Pirates rods in the 106 and 110 lengths.   I've never spun off a beach before and I want to primarily target Australian Salmon and Mulloway with a variety of lures - I'm thinking in the 20 to 70 gram range but I'm open to advice in this respect.   I love fishing light but I don't want to go too light in case I hook something out of the ordinary.  I'm thinking of the Lateo 110MH because of its advertised casting weight range and line rating (20 to 60 grams and line weight 7-15kg).  Incidentally, I'm thinking of marrying this up to a Shimano Sustain 5000.   I'm interested to hear your experiences with these rods and whether my envisaged set-up is close to ideal.   As I said, I'm open to suggestions and advice.  Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Wayne

Love my 110MH Lateo Pirates.

HEAPS of power and still light as. Can cast all arvo with no worries. Lobs out stickbaits/metals with ease. Lobs out an unweighted mulie a mile once it gets dark also.

I run a 4000 Daiwa Caldia SHA. So should be pretty on par size/weight wise to the 5000 Sustain.

I actually like the extra length personally, great for the rocks and when the swell gets a bit bigger and you have the extra length to keep the line above the waves.

Great rod, especially for the price!

1102m

I run the 1102m with a 4000 stella... brilliant rod off the beach. Best suited to 30 gram stickbaits minnows and metals. You can cast heavier than rating but the rod is soft and parabolic so you tend to lob it. For tailor and salmon you dont need anything more than a 30gmstickbait. The rod is insanely light and bends right through meaning u can put some serious hurt on without stressing ur back. Slayed 25 salmon on its virgin mission this easter and loved it. You cant go wrong if u can get one cheap
