damn

i went for a squid today in the sound, weather was perfect after lunch so we decided to go out for a fish with fresh bait, that didnt work out for us as my hand held garmin etrex gps would not fire up, with batteries or with charger, i have a few spots marked on it. now i am buggered as i have not written them down anywhere. does any one know where i can take it to get it checked out as i am stuffed now with out them. we ended up with 7 squid an a cutly on the plus side.

                                                                                                     cheers

the trick is Darryl, to bring up the list of waypoint details on your screen if you can every now and then and take a photo with your phone. Backed up!

if it wont fire up at all take out the batteries short out the terminals then put them back in

then try holding down the power button for about 10 secs, I sometimes have to do this with my garmin nuvi

car gps (not the batteries bit) it may need a reset.

    • 1

Remove the auxiliary mount or belt clip, if necessary, from the battery cover by sliding it off. Notice the round locking knob on the exterior of the cover.

    • 2

Turn the locked knob one-quarter of the way around clockwise.

    • 3

Remove the cover. The two AA batteries will be exposed.

    • 4

Insert the new batteries and reinstall the cover.

I think if the internal backup battery dies, the memory goes with it. At least thats what happened with one of my GPS.
