Decent day

Took my dad and a mate out on saturday again off Margs.  Awesome kind of day for the end of may.

Things were pretty quiet again with no BA or much bycatch at all.  But still lots of fish on the sounder.  Dad got done early on a good fish- I reckon a dhu by what was left of his leader.  Very chaffed up so Im thinking it probably had the jig down a fair way and rasped through.  That was on a shimano whirligig.

Three and a half hours in I managed a small 540mm dhuie on a 90gr eupro jig and Dad soon followed up with a 4ft bronzie on a 7 inch McCarthy and a home made 7/0 1.5Oz jighead.

Finally he got to put a decent bend in his custom rod with this dhuie going over what my 15lb boga grips could measure.  Again on the 7 inch McCarthy and same jighead- liking the Eagle Claw saltwater hooks!

Also managed a very lost squid which was drifting around in 35m of water only a metre under.  Glad I had a squid rod rigged up ready to go.

Real stoked to get the old man onto a dhuie on an artificial- Converted him from bait to lures in exmouth with huge success and now hes embracing it down here.  Nothing beats going fishing with him and seeing him enjoy a new style of fishing.  Memories I wont forget.

Dont have to go far off the west side.  We were in 35m when we caught the fish and a couple of k's absolute max offshore the whole day.  Even travelling from the ramp for a little, we only used 10l of fuel all day.  Love the economy of the 90 evinrude.
