Yeah right.....  no way.  Years ago i looked after one of these boats and firstly, theyre not an ex cray boat.  Secondly...  stops at esperence, port lincoln, tasmania....  i wonder if he has done his fuel calculations....  wont be room for skipper plus two crew because every nook and cranny will be storing fuel.

In your dreams boys, in your dreams.

I agree, I wouldn't call it

I agree, I wouldn't call it an ex cray boat.

To be fair about the fuel, it doesn't say that it's only stopping at Esperance, Port Lincoln, Tasmania, Sydney and Brisbane, it just says it's stopping there. It could be the case that he's stopping a lot more frequently, but, it wouldn't be practical to list every stop on a breif gumtree ad, and if a backpacker were reading the ad, and wanted to travel around, they can quickly see some select locations that they might want to see.

It's interesting that he's specified male deck hands, though. Maybe there's something about not wanting to be isolated with women he's not familiar with, and concerned they might say he was inappropriate with them? Or maybe just prefers the company of dudes, who knows.

Also, the guy seems to be into the whole boating scene, and is a Perth guy, maybe he's a member, and his ad's just been taken out of context? Just something to think about.

there really isnt anywhere to stop for fuel until the Eyre Peninsula

The Nullabor is one unforgiving stretch of coastline

Having done a few long distance boat trips I can tell you that you do not want to be on a boat at sea with people that you do not know. How they will cope are they bipolar and forgot their meds, and what there capabilities are - its just stupid
That boat - looks like an old Randell, great for chugging to rotto, fk going across the bight in that - at least he got the ad title right ..."mad keen"

It is an old Randell.  Looks like about 32 '.  The one i looked after had a perkins diesel with a 'v' drive gearbox.  Flat out was about 17 knots.  Cruised comfortably at about 12 from memory.  Great rotto boat!

 sounds like an exciting journey.

Bipolar pillow biters chugging along at 12knots in the Ol Randell! Then running out of fuel!
