Deep Cycle Battery gurus???

I've just bought an Ark Powerpack with the intention of using it to power the Engel on trips away and more so to put in the boat to power an electric reel. Can anyone recommend the best deep cycle battery for this purpose?

Cheers

Chopdog you gotta go to Batery Force in Furnissdale where the old Yunderup Marine was. They are good in there and very well priced. Try to refrain from picking up an Engel at the price they sell them at. Its hard I tell ya!

They kick arse. I use them only for electric reels though.

AGM

Optimas although dont have as high AH rating as some deepcycle batts of the same size, I dont know anyone who would need to run something for like a week without some sort of charge been able to be put back into the battery from a range of sources these days. Optimas love having the volts (up to 15) and amps (up to 100A) smashed in so can be charged quick. They dont swell in the heat of engine bays like normal agm batts and are hybrid so can be used as a crank battery aswell as a deep cycle, which means they have a high current delivery on demand. They dont suffer like lead acid batterys do from being discharged to low voltages such as 11v or less so they can be used for their full rating with confidence time after time and the voltage stays fairly constant through the discharge cycle. The blue top is the same as a yellow top but has stainles posts hence the marine label. I have a blue top in the Hilux as my aux and has been goin great guns so far and bought it online from over east for heaps cheaper than any local supplier could do, has 3 year warranty . Iv heard of people getting 10 years out of their agm, dreamin of getting that out of any lead acid wether it be a crank or deepcycle battery

If moneys no,s object ( within reason ) check out the new lithium range by s.s.b batterys

there in coburn central , cant remember there trading name , but just search ssb batterys on the web

theres a dealers list.

these things are incredable . a 400 cca battery and they wiegh 1.7 kgs, they do deep cycle and starting,

dont know how much , but there pricy.

If thats too much , they do agm , dry cells , deep cycle , same as I have under bonnet for my fridge, for around 200-250.

next time I go there i will grab a price list. ( like scaring people!)

I picked up a 130AH american batt from Challenge batteries a couple of weeks ago, went for an AGM so it doesnt melt my ute if it falls over and just the alround supreriority over lead acid.

Just be wary my Arkpak weighs a ton now and the quality AGM's arent cheap
