Hi everyone
Is there any experts around regarding what settings to use with a furuno 585 1kw in 300+m
We were out there on the weekend and struggled to get a decent picture
any info would be great

I guess i will tell you all
I guess i will tell you all where we were at with settings and maybe someone can help with any other fine tuning.
tvg high and medium were used
tried colour erase
tried clutter
tried all gain from 1-10
tried 50khz and 200khz
this could be an interesting forum topic because im sure a lot of people would be interested in the finer points of sounder tuning.

Sounds like you were too
deep for your sounder.
Sounder that is good for 300 metres works well up to 150 meters, then they start to lose signal, when that happens slow down (right down) put on auto and read between the lines.
50hz is too big a beam
Hubbie (Furuno FCV-668 colour) said in that depth you need a 200mega hurtz sounder which gets back to narrower beam width, which you need for that depth and take into account the time it has to go down and then for you to read.

Set up
Got Ryan to go through everything with my new 620 and set everything for all my depths of fishing i want to do. On furuno sounders he is a full bottle. Money well spent for sure and i know that he is getting a lot of people just for sounder tuition.
