Deepdropping -Today's catch
It was decided that I was only going for a squid sesh, just outside of Hillary's, as the weather was looking crap for a fish outside 3 mile. Then a late decision to throw in the heavy gear aswell just in case. My deckie (anypuddle) convinced me to head deep, the ride out was lumpy, but we pushed on to the 100's. It was pretty messy going. Got to the 100's, after 40km's and said 'this is crap, should we turn back ?' My deckie also had 2nd thoughts by this stage, but then I had a thought - stuff you we came this far, just another 20km's to go so toughen up! just to be mean..lol. All this time looking behind and thinking it's going to be a slow trip home, would take about 3hrs....
Got to this spot, 1st drop, sea anchor out and suprisingly, no current and holding bottom very easily.....5 more drifts and this was the result ! The biggest GB went about 25kg plus
Heading home for the 1st 15km's was 15 - 20kph.....but then got to the 120's and things started to look good....it just got better and better so all up only took 2hrs to get back by 2:30pm ! Thank God !

was just taking the piss for a laugh
that top pic was a set up. My reel would have exploded and handle broken on that cheap reel. Still early days using those jigs tho..

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Great haul mate, gotta be stoked with that.
These on baits or jigs?
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

hey buz
yeah still fishing with a manual reel .. my old diawa sealine. u know its funny dont mind pulling up real fish from 300 or 400 m . just a pain when its them damn blowie/green eyes. got a triple header last time . one gb on a 670 g jig on the bottom then a red snapper on a bait and another gb on top. love using a jig as a sinker took 25 mins to get up... little sit down after that
