dhuie,baldy,sambo on sp's perth

friday was a blinder of a day weather wise so we headed out behind rotto for a soft plastics bash on 14lb braid on a 5-8kg 7ft with a symetre4000 reel.

the morning started a little slow on the sth end of rotto sow i headed out from 40m to about 60m and looked for some ground, didnt take long to find a few small patches with small flare ups so i increased from 1oz to 2oz jig head and gave it a few drifts. soon later i hooked a monsta and battled it for a good 5or so mins and landed a crakka dhuie 10.2kg. pumped as, i looked around for some more ground and produced a nice baldy about 47cm, yum.

bagged out i decided to head in a bit and find another dhuie for my mate on board so we went back into the 40m again where i had caught some recently, no luck but he landed a nice pink snapper and i hooked a good size sambo which made for a gd foto before release :) we had a crakka day out and i was amazed to get my pb softy dhuie in perth!!!!!!!

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

cheers fellas, it was good to get away from the crowds and put a bit of variety in the freezer b4 the bans hit.

i will now spend some time looking for kg over the next three months, im lookn at ground in the 30-40m and ill proly cover all the ground ive found in the last few yrs behind garden.

i have caught a few here and there but im assuming that because i use large hooks targetting dhuie etc, ive been less likely to get the king george so i will adjust my rigs accordingly and hit up my occy pots for some fresh bait and start to identify which of my marks are more suited to finding kg and then ill change the colour/picture of the mark to indicate kg country, so it will better help me in future.

ive got like 800+ marks on my sounder and i can only remember what a small hand full of them were for lol time to at least identify some kg ground during the bans.

670 offshore ht sdd quintrex 2007 model, only year they released a diesel in :) plenty enough room for me and a couple of mates to drop a line and the inboard engine allows better space along the transom marlin board.
