Did these come out of the flesh or gut

Did the worms come from the gut or the flesh, if they came from the gut my money would be on that is what they have been feeding on.

Common

Sat, 2014-04-05 13:54

Its common to see these and other worms in the stomache of sand whiting. They are feeding on them. I explained to some of my friends that it might not be whiting season so much as it it worm season, and the whiting are on the chew in numbers because the worms are comming out of the sand to breed. Thats just my opinion on what happens around this time of year and over the next few months .

Definately nothing wrong with the whiting unless you see worms in thier flesh. I cant recall ever seeing this except every now and then you will get one that has soft flesh, i suspect that could be worms and nearly all fish are prone to them. Even if they have worms, as long as they are cooked properly you should have no worries eating them .
