Dogs & Ticks

I am wanting to take my four legged mate with me beach fishing north of perth (Wilbinga to be precise) I often get ticks myself when up there & just wondering if any forum members have had any dramas with there dogs & ticks in WA? From what I have been told the ticks here in WA are not the paralysis type as over east?
I'm getting pretty good at removing them from myself & have a specialised little tool to do so but being a golden retriever it is a concern though as they would be very hard to notice.
Yes I am aware of the relevant shire laws ect and I consider myself a responsible dog owner & my dog is obedient ect. but would be good to bring the old boy along.
Any advice appreciated.

Paralysis ticks
To my knowledge we [WA] don't have paralysis ticks or at least I've never heard of anyone or thing getting them.
There are lots of ways to get them off, burning its bum, kero, vaseline , but just getting a pair of tweezers and gripping the head is about the best.
With the dog, just give it an extra good going over once you get home.

Yea remove them properly
Last one i got was in the middle of a Roo Convention.. On a beach up north a bit. and I just ripped it out it took ages to heal. Kind of like a pimple that doesnt heal for a few months! Usually I burn em out with a ciggie..

Thanks for the replies guy's. I didn't even consider using a product to repel them like frontline. Thx for the tip I will go that option.
