doing up my 5.1m "shark"cat :-) NEARLY DONE

So i purchased my cat off joe amato a fellow fw member in december 2010 and had a few plans to make her a bit neater..

my mate ownes a panelbeating shop and with a bit of nagging he got my boat in for a full spray and i thought i would do everything else while it was on peices

doing a restore on a boat is similar to doing a house reno the list just gets bigger and more expensive its like i have opened a can of worms.

b.o.a.t = bring on another thousand -alright

 .

all i really have left to do is

new

- clears

- led light up front and back

- a couple of fw stickers

- and a few decals

- stere-ere-o

- rego stickers

and considering building an alloy fuel tank instead of plastic fantastic

but i am sure i am missing something

anyway what do you all think so far?

the pics are obviously in order of stripping and putting back and i will add more as i do more

cheers hemi

Hey great little project

Sun, 2011-07-31 13:41

Hey great little project there , looks great . Although I wouldnt recomend putting the seats back in depending on deck space. Id rather have no seats in a fishing boat to maximize fishing and deck space. Just my Opinion but in our chivers we took the seats out as they just took up to much room. All the other modifications sounds awsome. Be a nice rig once it is all done. Cheers

This way it will be ready to go and you will know exactly what has and hasnt been done to it, looks like your first few trips will be taking out the blokes that have help out.

Keep the progress pics coming.

Hemi mine is a large rear seat that acts as sorage as well, when fishing deep sea i just take it out and store in shed.

But good for the river cruise.

Yeh that's what I was thinking having a fixed back bumper board with removable base ...but my fuel tank is on the floor so either way I can't stand in the middle ....confusing decisions :-/

Remove the front seats and

Sun, 2011-07-31 16:26

Remove the front seats and replace with a 'bench' style esky (macky box from Dave @ Xtreme Coolers) with a cushion on top, you just add some brackets in to make it removeable did it in the old tub & it worked awesome.

Nothing like making the most out of your space available

Looks much improved there

Mon, 2011-08-01 07:43

Looks much improved there mate!

Seats on boats, hard call that one. About 80% of the time they're in the wrong spot. Either you can't use them because its too bumpy, or you're casting, or they're too close to the dash or windscreen.

Certainly telling the deckie to suck it up and sit on the esky is a good idea though.

My priority is two seats

Mon, 2011-08-01 22:49

My priority is two seats upfront but being a 5.1 I have heaps of deck space for a smallish boat so the rear bench can wait.
Does anyone know if the regulations on ergo stickers are strict (black block numbers with white background) or can I be creative?

Requirements

Tue, 2011-08-02 12:30

There is no black and white requirement ;)

http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/imarine/19093.asp

Where to place registration numbers and sticker

Numbers must be fixed as follows:

Power boats: midship on the side or super-structure of a boat / vessel where they are clearly visible and not under the flare of the bow - 150mm high.
Yachts: on the side of the hull immediately forward of the transom - 50mm high.
Tender: must have its parent vessel's number displayed on each side of the boat, forward of the transom.
The registration identification label is to be affixed on the port (left) side of the vessel, outside and immediately adjacent to the registration number.

Can do what ever you want as

Tue, 2011-08-02 14:00

Can do what ever you want with rego numbers as long as they are able to be read, mine were originally chrome, but changed to a chrome outline & grey body that matches the Wellcraft Decal, as all chrome ipossable to read in the sun.

Not sure about the black

Tue, 2011-08-02 17:45

Not sure about the black windscreen. Looks sexy on the trailer or in the river but will be nearly impossible to see out of with a bit of spray on it in low light conditions.

A little bit gray goes a long way

Tue, 2011-08-02 18:26

Hemi, looks a treat, very very jealous always loved the little sharkcats,

Looking at it makes me want to do drastic things to my bucket,

I reckon a gray windscreen rather than black would be the way to go, might be able to see out of it at dusk/dawn then.

I'm looking into changing out mine as its been sandblasted to hell.

Not sure about the shark cat

Tue, 2011-09-27 11:55

Not sure about the shark cat id either. I wasn't aware of any Bruce Harris designed cats made out of ally.
I thought it looked more like the trailezy cats that were made by the guy in applecross just near the Raffles.

Tue, 2011-09-27 16:26

smack on dodgy the bloke who i got it off joe amato and he just labeled it as a shark cat and it stuck ...but the old boy in applecross built it and i just decided to snazzy it up

latest is a windscreen from windows west in henderson...top job and would recomend them.

and i think the design was off a webster twinfisher...
