Downloading Photos???

Still going through the process of getting to know this site, but one thing I am having trouble with is downloading photos??
I have been trying to do up a bit of a "High time I shared some Photos" Etc and I get a couple of photos up and then Ittttttttt Takesssss forever to try load the next one.... Is this a standard issue... Please explain.. LOL
PS I have resized all photos down to about 250kb
