don't let it come in contact with the inside of the eski.....it's just too cold and can damage (warp) the sides and bottom.
make sure you use some sort of foam or newspaper packaging to stop this.
think if you have a fibreglass eski it may be OK though
Thick walled insulation. If you can find very thick walled foam boxes (and I am talking 10cm+ thickness, if not more) the better.
It may crack the fibreglass walled eskies so if you do decide to use them - you have been warned. However if not in direct contact it may be ok, so wrapped in towels or newspapers is a good insulator against this from occurring.
Not too well sealed as it will pressurise and can/will explode. Meaning not in a sealed container.
Also when travelling with it, make sure its not inside the car carbon dioxide not a nice gas to breath in an enclosed space such as in the car. So stow it in the trailer or boat - not the boot.
Blocked dry ice far better than pelletised dry ice. Reduce as much air space as possible in the esky as possible and don't keep opening it - it will evaporate quickly when the warmer air gets in.
Its good to get your bait up to where you are going, 20kg would probably last no more than 4 days - depending how much you have and how much you keep opening and placing stuff on it.
Its one of the only compounds that can 'sublimate' in that it jumps a phase. Normally matter will go Fromm solid, liquid and gas. Dry ice (Co2) goes from solid to gas, making it a great cooling agent with no residual (liquid) left behind.
CIG (you would remember them) in the LIA, now BOC used to be the place to go before Monties trips!
thinking trips around 5 days I know my Yeti will hold ice for 5 days but looking for a back up to make it last longer my standard thing I do is freeze sea water it seems to last longer than standard fresh water
Recall packing some fish fillets with dry ice in an esky on a trip once when a teenager, fillets were very frozen and fine (not in contact with ice) however made the mistake of also putting the eggs on top in the esky.
Very frozen eggs hit street signs quite hard when travelling at 110k/hr!!
