DUMB QUESTION.........i hope not please reply.

I was just wondering if theres anyway you can anchor offshore with the boat side ways? Now i know if it not dead calm or if theres swell this is dangerous but say for instance your casting at a target and want to utalize the whole length of your boat so two or three can easily cast at the same target? What im trying to say is set up like a drift but your always stationary.
any info would be appreciated, ive thought of a few ways but it always comes back as it will either get in the way or dangerous.Cheers Chris.

ifish
They had something on ifish a couple of weeks ago some sort of clip you you put on your anchor rope then tie it off towards the back of the boat you can then control how the boat hangs by adjusting the rope with the clip on it accordingly...try their web site

Thanks ffingers i was
Thanks ffingers i was thinking that but the clip would have to slide up and down the anchor rop because if it pulled tight it could pull u down and also a rope coming from the front and back would give you the shits trying to land a fish.......unless you tied it behind you i suppose.mmmmmmmmmm cheers.

I would just assume you put
I would just assume you put your anchor in the middle of the boat, ie tie it to the bow rail.
I do it with a drift anchor to drift sideways,
but then again, i am a noobie too...so im guessing

Just be bloody careful.............. You will also be fishing aross your ropes all the time. Getting the anchors up might also present some problems.

The pulling ont he anchor
The pulling ont he anchor would drive you mad.... not so bad when there is give on the nose (Boat swings around not giving you the full brunt of the jerk)
I would suggest looking for some sort of new stretch rope for your anchor...dunno if it exists tho

i used to use a bike inner
i used to use a bike inner tube on the anchor line as a shock absorber on my tinny when i was anchored , but yes I would be so carefull as its easily tipped anchored side on

Chris - not sure what you
Chris - not sure what you are targeting exactly. the way we work with three on board is that one drives other two cast when poppering or chucking stickbaits in washes and outcrops, no farken way would I be anchoring in the spots we cast at. If you are all trying to fish a bommie then it is possible. Anchor front, motor back around till you are side on and another anchor out the back, then you can let each out until you are in your desired position. Obviously only doable with a consistant wind and current and not much swell.

not sure what size boat your
not sure what size boat your playing with spess but im guessing its small .. with our old tinnie i used to tie it to the front but loop it around a rowlock ... to do this you need to anchor upwind so your casting away with the rope at your back ... use plenty of rope ... and add i big float about half way along the rope (like a anchor yanka) minimum of 30cm dia. (just dog clip it to the rope).. when the boat pulls tight on the anchour the float goes under and takes all the shock out of it making it nice and safe :) ... the bigger the float the better most of the time ... we used to use a big inflatable fender ....
hope that helps (long winded i know)

dumb question
chris,if you want to anchor beam on, go to a store and buy a small snatch block(a snatch block has a flap you can open to put the line in,make sure you "DONT"put the pin back in,just in case you need to let it go in a hurry.)make it fast to a stern cleat and then put the anchor line in and you can set it any where you like.just be very carefull where and when you do it.
