These aren’t exactly secret

These aren’t exactly secret spots so here goes:

You’ll get a feed of herring casting from the rocks at the little point next to the old Dunno boat ramp as well as potty whiting and flathead and flounder on plastics although the flatties are generally undersized. You’ll also get tailor at night. The rocks can be slippery but the water is not deep but I still put the boys in a life jacket. They'll love the bonnet size manta rays that swim right up to the rocks.

If you head around to the flats in front of town you should be able to chase yellowfin whiting but I’d probably go small sub surface minnows rather than poppers with the mild weather and make sure you cover heaps of ground to find the hungry ones and you may also pick up a flattie or a flounder. If you walk out and fish along the weed bank you’ll also pick up some herring and a giant herring if you’re very lucky. Grab a torch and a gidgee and walk around the flats at night and you should score yourself a nice cobbler and there’s heaps of big yellow eye mullet around also which make brilliant crab bait.

Quindalup jetty is a good spot for a flick for herring, squid and potty whiting and to catch crabs but I’ve found it to be very hit and miss even when berleying up hard. Just be aware that it is a jetty for the boat ramp so lines in when you see someone coming in or out. I make the boys where a life jacket here too.

Eagle Bay is good for a flick for herring and for flatties in amongst the broken ground and there are yellowfin whiting where the little creek comes out near the fire station.

I've never had any luck at Castle Rock or Meelup and even diving with a speargun along the rocks as a teenager I only ever saw shit fish and the odd occy.

I'll be down there from 12-19 Oct with my family and the boat so if you'll be there around then I may need a deckie to go for a bash out to the 12 Mile if my cousin is unavailable.
