 Light gear for smaller fish

Tue, 2015-01-13 15:06

Light gear for smaller fish (herring, snook, scalies, etc.) and heavier gear for bigger fish (mulloway, small sharks, etc.)

On the lighter gear you can use a bait chaser rig and if you burley up a bit should be able to get lots of herring and scalies otherwise a small unweighted bit of bait for herring, yellowtail, snook, etc. with maybe a small split shot if the current is strong.

On the heavier gear use either fresh fillets or live bait that you catch on the light gear. Either two snelled hooks or a single hook is my rig of choice although if using fillets you could use gangs. I would suggest using a running 3-5 oz sinker depending on how strong the current is.

I'd love to toto eshed but

Tue, 2015-01-13 18:38

I'd love to toto eshed but way to any ppl to be fun. Not only that I don't wanna be part of over fishing an area :)

I must admit my time in Perth is sad for one respect.....gov does not shut down areas to let stocks build up..

Case in point, in Tasmania gov shut down the bass strait scallop grounds for many years to akkow it to recover...

It works.

 Perths very limited to good

Tue, 2015-01-13 19:25

Perths very limited to good land based fishing platforms as it is mate the last thing we need is to shut another one, northmole has been bad enough.

This is the reson these spots get so crowded if you compare perths stretch of coast, to a stretch in nsw you'll see theres a lot more rocks and headlands to fish in whatever winds so people can spread more and still get good fish

Once schools back mate you can go fish all day and night during the week with bugger all people get ya bait a feed and maybe a run on the big rod i need to go get some scallies/slimies soon i'll shoot ya a pm and you can sus it out when its not so busy

Tue, 2015-01-13 19:53

So wa gov do control stocks ? That's good to ear... I love Perth an it's nice to see so much that eastern staes just suck at.

I did grow up in UK, if that was directed at me, yes. Heh what it away?
