Submitted by topace on Sun, 2013-04-28 12:41
Hi everyone
My wife and have booked 5 nights in june at eco beech
Although we have booked a charter, we will be taking our own gear
But wanting some advice on what type we can expect to catch from the shore.
And also what type of soft pastics/lures to take as room will be limited
Any help would be apreciated

kurt is a top bloke
Me and the mrs are there around october every year and the place is awsome. I didnt have much luck with the beach fishing coz I didn't have my own gear and borrowed the resorts but seen heaps of queenies about and a few small sharks. I think fishing lures on the high tide will produce a queenie or 10. Kurt the fishing guide is a top bloke who really knows his fishing its a bit expensive but I say if he takes you out on his good boat creek and offshore is money all spent. Enjoy

Make sure you get your Matsos
Make sure you get your Matsos the evening before as having fruit for brekkie (Mango Beer) with a morning fish sets your day in the right direction :-)
Per the above, the fishing with Kurt is great. If you can, head down to Jacks Creek for a sunset drink if that is still on offer.
Wifey and I have been up there in may for a week over the past three years (married there two years ago). Heading up in October/November this year to see it at a different time....and hopefully for some sails...

I caught my first Barra up at Jacks. Nothing big but still. Then went to another creek a bit further up fishin the run out of the tide. Heaps of black tip reefys in 2ft of water then got smoked by a big thready. Managed to get him in without being sharked. 118cm 8kg. This was all back before it got wiped out by the cyclone. Anyway great spot.
