Ryan started doing the Super Deep stuff many years ago and has always had Daiwa. Perfect electric reel for the Super Deep stuff ie 200-500m and the model we use is the Daiwa Megatwin 1000. It has a automatic twospeed motor that minimizes the stress of winding up heavy sinker/rig weights etc

We load our reels with Berkley Whiplash Braid 80lb but 100lb also suitable. This braid is thin and very strong and ideal for the Super Deep stuff.

As for the rod, you want to use a jigging style rod thats parabolic so your putting all the pressure onto the fish not your body. We use these rods with baits and when we jig the supper deep also. We use Jigging Master rods and the new Ocean Devil 450 is an awesome rod and well priced. There's other options available in the jigging rod if you have a set budget etc

You don,t need electric ,we find it easier with manual wind .Jesse has his rig up quicker than the electric reel.And more fun pulling up green eyes .
