Elite 7 problems

 Hey guys, needing some advice on a problem with my elite 7 sounder- it started too play up on just the sounder section , it shows 0mtr and takes a while to catchup and show true depth and ground. Does it while traveling and at rest . Iv checked transducer and it's fine and firm, Iv been told the elites have had a software problem like this?

is it worth fixing or start again? Any advice would be much appreciated

 Im having the exact same issue with mine the last couple of weeks. Have been having to turn it off then on again to get it going. Charts and plotter is all good, just the sounder not reading until i fire it up again. Same as you have checked over everything and it all looks good. Feeling its something internal in the unit. Will be watching this thread if anyone has any ideas.

I'd check the current firmware of the unit and see if there's an update

Just be careful it doesn't wipe your marks when you upgrade (ie Backup Marks first)

 My old LCX-18C decided to display a screen of messages recently. Made little sense and unit renewed useless. It was only occurring when the map screens were in use. I thought the map SD card was stuffed. In total desperation I rang the Lowerance help line. Amazingly I ended up speaking with someone in Amaerica. The Lowerance helper was very good, he wasn't overly empathetic with my situation. He guided me through a Soft reset which didn't work, and then a Hard reset which fixed the issue.

 Hey tradewind, a mate at work has the elite 5 with same issues and has said there is no update but I will defo confirm and look into it. The unit is 3 yrs old

 Try plug on rear check pins arn't green, light sparay of contct sparay & make sure plug is screwed in tight. wiggle plug to see if drops out. pretty sure ther is a software upgrade also.

Spray WD onto a soft toothbrush and use that to clean down pins or sockets of any corrosion ....simply spraying can flood the area which isn't a good idea

Mine used to read O metres after jamming the tub in reverse and wouldnt find bottom until I went to the depth menu and selected the range again.
