EShed slimy's
Took the kids to the Eshed Jetty last night to try our luck with the mackerel. This was the first time i had done this. With a few trips up North coming up, we thought it was a good idea to get some bait. Arrived at 6pm with the two boys and a mate who also has two boys. First job was to make sure none of the litte tackers fell off the jetty. Youngest 6 oldest 9. We had no real expectations. Got the kids rods sorted with the customary rigs, through out a bit of pollard and tuna oil and before we knew it the kids were hauling in double and triple headers. I would say it is the most fun they have had for a long time. Great night had by all. I was a bit confused with two people throwing a net off the jetty. A few guys on the jetty thought it was a $10,000 fine. Another of those rules i am not too sure on.
We kept 80 which were put on ice in the 27litre until late this afternoon. Then the job of vac sealing was on. I had know idea so much blood was going to come out of them. The Eva pac did a great job with so much moisture. I was quite surprised.
We had a great night catching the bait and now have 80 vac packed slimy's ready for the trips North.
What a great thing to do with the kids. We will be back soon. I would be interested to know how some of you kill them. Do you just put them in your buckets, on ice or kill with the iki?
Cheers
Dave

Been flat out with work & getting the house to completion (you know how it is), the 16hr days are killing me so this couldn't come at a better time. Will start the sorting & packing next week, nothing like last minute prep
