Seabird report 3rd weekend
Submitted by sea-kem on Sun, 2012-03-11 18:28
Headed out yesterday on a pretty big and messy swell with both the boys chundering. Stopped on the sand banks again for some lovely fat Whiting. We then headed out into about 32m for lots of shark bust offs but finally at dead on 12 midday I broke my Dhuie drought/curse with a nice 4kg fish and from then on things got better. My oldest bagging his first just over size Pinkie. We moved out to 35m and within 5 mins my rod took off like a rocket. I called it for another Noah the way this thing ran but the young fella spotted the colour first and up came a nice 8kg Dhuie so my drought well and truly over.

Funny you ask BJ. We actually
Funny you ask BJ. We actually nearly lost the boat yesterday to a set of big waves coming through, managed to keep the nose pointed out but one of the waves smashed over the front soaking the boat. Probably the worst launch yet but got it out ok in the end.As one of the older blokes up there said you can do it a thousand times but you only have to get caught once. Beaching is actually the worrying bit as you have to try to time the waves in but you usually cop one up the rear of the boat when you hit the beach. We have a winch shack which pulls the boats right out of the water.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
