Esperance out east...

FW crew,

Planning a trip in January east of Esperance. Not sure whether i'll tow the 14ft dingi along yet prob not as I'm travelling with 2 kids 7 & 9 plus the ball and chain. I was after some fishing camping surfing advice from any punters that have ventured that far. I'm in a well set up hilux and have spent alot of time of the beaten track so dont mind getting away from it all.

I would ideally like to be able to throw a camp up on or right near a beach where I can chase a gummy off the beach in front of camp and hopefully not have to travel to far to get a little surf in. Dont worry fella's you dont have to give up your favourite hidy hole surf spots, just looking for something fun with a good spot to camp for a week or so.

Look forward to hearing about your experiences out that way, good or bad fill me in....

Cheers - Timboon

Weve still got a handfull from poisen creek instead of going all the way up the cliffs

Yep Poison would be the go, dinghy launch and some of the areas best beach fishing. Not sure about waves there, never really looked but I reckon you would find a break or two there.....Cape Arid/Thomas River which is the next lot of beaches back towards town has some good surf and fishing and great camping around the beach. Just have to plan around low tide to get around.

All of the above are National Park so no dogs and Rangers will be out and about heaps.....really busy that time of year too.

Sus them out on google earth

As for the dinghy...I would definetly bring it! I have been catching some sweet queenies, black arse, harlies and gai from my 12 footer all in real close in the last couple of months. Just have to have a sounder and have an explore....plenty of good ground out there

Hey Woody & Jake what sorta depths you bottom bashin in and how far offshore around about?? My tinni is widebody dory 4.2 with 25hp 4 stroke, power trim etc so with battery etc she weighs a fair bit, unless I can reverse it to the water line I wouldn't be able to get her in most likely even using rollers under the hull on the sand??

And how hot are the rangers on lighting a fire of a night time, nothing silly just a cookin fire for the camp oven??

im heading down that way in a week with a few mates from Denmark and a mate from Busso, just wondering how the rangers are with fires

Are there any good "remote" places west of esp? It'll be hard during new years but we're after somewhere where we can get away for a week straight out in the bush with no people around, no people being the hard bit ahah We will be wanting to do cliff/beach fishing by the way

Cheers for any advice and pointers
