Exmouth Crays after June 30th

HI All

Heading to Exy in July now after June was cancelled due to medical reasons., my crew intend on doing some diving for Tropical Crays....My understanding in Sth of NW Cape the season closes June 30th. But Nth of Nth West Cape the season is all year. if you launch from Bundegi/Marina, but dive around the Murions say....can you bring that catch back on shore at the boat ramp? A grey area for me im hoping some one can clarify. My understanding is we won't be able to take any during July anywhere from Exy. Any help on this matter would be great. Going to fisheries will be my next port of call, Cheers

Ring up Exmouth branch of fisheries and ask. Get a defineate answer.  If they say yes, ask for the name of the fisheries officer, time and date you called or even better an email directly from them. Get your answer from an officer not the receptionist.  But  from what I have been led to beleive it is no you cant.

I would ring fisheries, but from my understanding, we never took them during off season for that risk (landing them in the zone, although caught outside of).

Interpretation is a wonderful thing..."Landing" any crayfish at Bundegi or Tantabiddi for example will be breaking the rules. Adam is onto it.

If you land any crays below 21 Deg, 46' South after the 30th June, you will be fined. This is a line from NW Cape to south of the Ashburton River ~ south of Onslow. If crays are your number one, move your holiday to Onslow :) Puts you in the North Coast Region instead of the Gascoyne.

That said, you are then limited to 4 Painteds or Ornamentals etc. per person (12 Total per boat max with 3 divers onboard)

Have fun either way...I am very jealous!
