Fantastic Fin-Nor aftersales service.

Hi Everyone. Just sharing something that recently happened which I thought you may enjoy.

I recently went on a bit of a GT popping trip which I had planned for a while, and after considerable research on this site, Alan Hawk, etc... I got a Fin-Nor Lethal 100 LT, to pair with my T-curve 8 foot stick bait series rod.

When I got to my trip destination, there was a bit of derision about the Fin-Nor, amongst the Stellas, etc... But, I wasn't too phased. Out it went, and it worked really well. I managed to haul in both a 45 and 47 Kg GT without any drama, as well as the cursory other fish one encounters on such a trip. But, on the last day, I hooked onto a decent sized Queenie, and as I was fighting it, stumbled in the swell, knocking my reel on the gunnel and snapping it at the stem.  Oh, you should have heard the people jump on the Fin-Nor hating band wagon when that happened...

Anyway, after I got back, on Friday, I emailed Fin-Nor, telling them what happened, including photos, etc... and asking them if this was a common thing, etc... Obviously telling them about the gunnel, and how it wasn't just a freak accident. I just received an email an hour ago, less than 30 hours after I sent them email, with Fin-Nor not asking any questions, simply saying that they'll send me the cast body for the reel, or if I send the reel to them, they'll fix it for me, no charge, no questions asked. Not a single question about sales receipts, conditions, etc...

I think that's the sort of after sales service which should be commended, and I feel that I should let others know

Well that is certainly the kind of service you just can't fault and well worth telling others.

Fin-Nor could spend thousands on advertising and they do however positive stories and positive word of mouth about their product ....well ....money can't buy that and with information being so readily available these days that is what people look at before making decisions !!

Cheers

That sort of service is beyond dollars

That sort of after sales service creates word of mouth advertising that is beyond the dollar count. I know that when I come to buy another reel that sort of service will play a part in my buying decision.

+1 Fin Nor

With the general disregard of customer opinion from most big name brands it's good to see some companies bucking that trend and providing quality after sales service.

If there was a whinge wall on this site i'm sure it would be full of the "Lack of service" that i'm sure we have all received.

We had a finnnor lethal 100 snap at the stem last week up at Exmouth. Looks like it might be a design fault.  I'll get in contact with them when I'm back in Perth

Gotta love it

I've got about 8 Fin Nor reels including an Ahab 16 and 12... plus an Offshore 55 and a heap of smaller reels I use for light boat fishing.  Yeah they appeal to me... love the scream of the drag on the Ahabs when a Snapper comes a hunting.  Like the reels even more now with service back up like that.

Along with the photos of the reel, I also sent them a photo of the 47 kg GT, resting on my lap next to the reel. They just got back to me this morning, saying they like the photo and want to use it on their website, offering me a free shirt in return. Bonus.

I'm a big fan of those sublimated fishing shirts, I reckon they dry so much faster.

I've edited my initial post

I've edited my initial post to include the photo I sent them. If I'm honest, I'm kind of dissapointed in how the fish looks in the photo vs real life. I'm a fairly big dude, so, when you compare the fish to me, it doesn't look that big, but, when its head came over the size of the boat, and I could see how fat it was, sitting there on the deck, it was incredibly impressive.

Cool, nice fish. I would be pleased to bring that in especially on a reel significantly lower priced that a Stella/Saltiga.

Above all, don't forget, high end reels like Stella's and Saltigas also have their failing points. If I recall I have seen video clips of these reels also snapping off at the stem under load. Seems to me the lethal is possibly more robust as it was subjected to an impact rather than failing under pressure !
