Ficht

Is anyone here running a Ficht on their boat? I'm not interested to hear how bad they are blah blah blah, just looking for a recommended service centre.

Cheers

I have had one. Almost identical to the first Etecs. Really need clean fuel and good batteries and make sure you run the xd50 oil. Quite hard to find someone that really understands them so I did all the servicing myself. Bought the software online.

If it is still going and has more than a few hours it will more than likely give great service. The ones that had issues have long gone. Not worth anything as far as resale goes though.

I have a 115 Ficht ram , 2001

I have a 115 Ficht ram , 2001 model for last 2 yrs on my boat .

I did a lot of research  before buying. From what I learned the main issues with Ficht were the pre 2000 models in the 150 and higher hp.

The 90-115's less so.

If it's a ficht still running now then probably no less risky than any other 2nd hand motor of a similar age

One thing to be wary of is the engine computer is water cooled and if the cooling lines get blocked then the computer overheats and will need to be replaced ( not cheap )

As with any older motor get a mechanic to do pre buy inspection, he will be able to get a computer print out telling you if any faults etc

i get mine serviced with Chivers ( evinrude dealer ), not cheap but do a good job

As said before you must run XD 50 oil

So far I've had no probs, runs well and pretty economical , though give me a 4 stroke anyday!

hope this helps

PS I am no expert so don't take my word for gospel !

Cheers, Joycey

Thanks guys. I already have a ficht 90 so not looking at buying another one, just wanted to know who was full bottle on servicing them. Ive booked it into Muhling Marine now who fitted it originally. I love the motor, it goes very well. Good fuel & oil consumption and never smelly. As mentioned the troubles were with the larger v6 models and if mines got this far then its probably a goody.

Good to hear opinions from anyone else running them though.
