Filling holes in glass hull

What do people generally fill old holes in the hull with? Mine are below the water line and in the upper half, with white gel coat. Do I use some sort of white epoxy product, or will something softer like sika-flex or silicon be ok?

Sika is a quick fix, does work but could loosen over time.

Thanks for the info. Do you think the liquid gelcoat is thick enough to hold in the holes without drooling out? Biggest holes would be about 10mm diameter where an auxilliary was mounted to the transom.
