Shiny!Long list of features
Shiny!
Long list of features in that unit. Should be interesting to see how it goes, particularly the sounder. The only raymarine i've seen in action was the A65, but it seemed to do a pretty good job sounder.
Getting any cameras or mobile devices connected?

A couple
Ive got a couple go pro's to fit and mabe a trawling camera, It uses blue tooth to conect to Iphone or I Pad . But to start with i'm just going to keep it simple and add on later as i learn more and work out the features i want .
The night vision camera looks very cool and might be one of the first things i look at .

Video conection
It has a video connector on the Power/Data cable.
It states you can use - Video camera, Thermal camera, DVD player, Portable digital video player and (smart phones ( via a docking station with a video output )
There are many ways to connect all your nav systems as well, but you need to add a network switch. ( allways more thing you need lol )
PS: You could use the GoPro with the skeleton housing and av leads.

Nice unit - gotta love
Nice unit - gotta love gadgets !
I got the Simrad NSS8 with touchscreen - the combination of touch screen and toggle is great.
I missed out on the Bluetooth & WIFI though - spewing !
Also has multiple cam inputs - got to decide what else to hook up.
I've fed it video via the SonicHub and it's impressive.
Unbelievably Simrad do not recommend use of a screen protector, saying the glass they use is super tough - even got a reply from Simrad saying they've done 'key' tests.
I'm still dubious on that one - one grain of stray sand will be harder & sharper than any key !
They did say feel free to source a custom screen protector, but wouldn't comment on how it may affect touch-screen performance.
I'd be interested to see what Raymarine recommends for your unit ?

Do the Raymarines have a matt
Do the Raymarines have a matt / low glare screen like the Simrads ?
Just wondered how a screen protector would stick to that sort of surface.
i.e. iPhones have a slick gloss surface to stick to.

not sure
Not sure Dizzy, But they claim wirh polarized glasses the screen can be seen easily. I have tested it and with my Spotters on there is very little difference in viewing the screen . Other sounders i have had ( only cheep end of the scale ) I couldn't see the screen at all with sunny's on .
Cheers Grant .
