Finally got my Big Blue

For years I have seen monsters or hooked them to be busted off in seconds but finally after nearly 7 years of trying I stopped a true monster! Not as big as my brothers ridiculously large one but it’s still huge. Before this I had been cursed and getting one over 20kg had always haunted me on rod and reel. Absolutely smashed the 20kg goal with this beast. Big story to go with it but I’ll save that for another time but getting to this spot was a mission and a half! I do believe this spot hasn’t been fished before by a single person and doubt it ever will do again. In roughly 10 casts at this spot we caught and released 2 small fish about 10kg, landed this monster, landed a smaller 8kg one we kept and lost another fish over 18kg on the surface before packing up.

Jesus Chris, that's off the planet! Is that a burley bag in the water behind you? What gear did you use?

 Haha cheers man.

Yeah burley bag tied off. Gear used was Daiwa Dogfight 8000H, Maven Coast 37-45kg 10ft, 100lb Tasline braid, 200lb Varivas leader, 7/0 BKK Beastly cat hook and a half crab bait. Even on that gear it still reefed me on every single sharp edge that it swam past and I got lucky to get it out after the first run.
