Firewood North of the river

Just wondering if anyone cuts their own wood for a wood fire soemwhere north of the river?

Checked out the DEC website, and only showing 2 locations to get wood from (Jarrahdale and south or Waroona). Ended up going down south of Waroon as my old man lives in Mandurah and needed some wood as well. However will most likely need more before winter is over, and looking for somewhere closer to home.

Anyone know of any designated wood cutting areas north of the river in the hills?

Cheers

Easiest thing to do mate is

Wed, 2012-06-06 17:25

Easiest thing to do mate is look for free mill ends(or pay if you cant find any. I get mine for free by the trailer load from a place down in Busselton when i go down there, though i do remember seeing a post on Gumtree for free mill ends from a timber furniture maker in Wangara. Check out Gumtree and just search firewood. Then look for ones for FREE :)

Otherwise all the designated firewood collecting area that i know of for this year are all south along the Scarp. If really unsure just hit up DEC in Wanneroo.

looking more for designated zones for cutting wood (usually the DEC has areas you can take aute into a cut up and fallen trees, but not standing trees).

Fair enough then you will

Fair enough then you will only be limited to those two areas you already know of. Obviously you know not to chop up the fallen logs that have the H spray painted on them?

Is funny though you see people collecting firewood in non designated areas north of Mundaring a fair bit when  4x4ing and motorbiking around there.

Im pretty sure there is one up near Karragullen, just out the back of dale road. Although its not realy north of the river its a bit closer than Jarrahdale/Waroona.

Cant be stuffed going out and

Thu, 2012-06-07 17:30

Cant be stuffed going out and cutting it anymore, all the place that DEC let everyone into gets raped, so I pay for a truck load these day to get me through, usually have to go cold on a coulple of things to afford it, but it's certainly worth it.

Cheers

Dale

Our State Forest is dying

Fri, 2012-06-08 19:10

It's all about a disease called die back and it is being accelerated by movement of machines and vehicles (also ferul animals). Best thing to do in my opinion is stay out of the forests and let DEC manage this albeit we don't always agree with the way they do it. If you need fuel then go buy it mate. Plenty of places in Perth where you can. If you can't afford the wood then switch to a cleaner form of energy to heat you in the couple of months a year we need it. JMO

Be careful mate

TAFE have a "green policy" and that bin should go to the green waste recycling facility. If you take stuff out of that it could well be classified as stealing. Word of advice mate; ask first and don't offer before you do

No probs skipper, i'll make sure i ask first but i'm sure i will give myself permission. I'll see if i can get it cut up so is there any particular size you would like. Dont mind the nails in it, they are free as well  lol.

Next week sounds good as long as there is still any fish left after this wind has finished blowing  haha.

cheers Rob
