Fish Bats

Good Evening
Had a request to turn some devices for the purpose of subduing and / or despatching fish when brought into a boat against their will.
I tried a number of designs and timbers. These are approximately 400mm long and fisnished with Organ oil (coz I had it handy).

Almost wrong to use Sheoak and Jarrah, but they do look good. Most WA fish object to being clubbed with a lesser species of timber, only the best for them.

Oh, and the price I charge for each one, is a good feed of fish for the family.

Sincerely
Willy

They look pretty thats for sure.

Will never use one though, always drop my fish straight on to a block of foam rubber and in goes the spike, all over in seconds.

With the increased number of home invasions, these would be handy to have strategically placed around the house . Not as big as my cricket bat which is behind the dresser at the moment.  One under the car seat would be ideal as well...... Not that I condone violence or anything.  (LOL)

The bat in the car trick is all ok if there is a ball to go with it , otherwise deemed a weapon and the carrier in trouble . I have not been busted but thats how i hear it goes.

Yeah they look the goods.

I must not have Carnarvonite's deft hand with the iki jimi, because my 'quick spike to the brain' attempts, usually turn into a 'death by a thousand cuts' scene from a japanese gangster movie.

I'll get the knack of it one day!

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Fish Bats

Don't often get to Karratha, not for lack of trying though.

Iki Jimi = Yep, I can imagine the number of spike wounds to my hands, or punctures to the boat deck!.

I did build and awesome fish bat years ago, about 600mm long, I then bored out the end and poured molten lead into the cavity. I then turned a plug for it. Wow, it was heavy, in all the right places. Fisherman up north was VERY happy with that.

Yoouch!!!

This is where I do prefer the bat if I am going to keep the fish. I love the look of those, but my Aboriginal stick (forgot the name, something like nunganna) does a beautiful job thus far.

The elder I bought it from cheaply said the name, and I thought it was spelled the other way. Does a great job on Macks!
