Fish Finder Recommendations - Lowrance vs Garmin

Hi guys

My Lowrance LMS 337 no longer works so I'm after a replacement combo GPS & fish finder. Budget is $1200 I read the comments in an earlier post however his budget is 3.5K.

I'm leaning towards the Lowrance Elite Ti2 9 inch which is on sale right now but thought I ask here for an opinion.

Ti2

Used the Ti2 and they are a very reasonable sounder for the price, great image on side/down scan (just as good as the hds live/ simrad evo 3) and simple to use. They are only capable of a maximum 600W transducer but thats more than enough for fishing less than 100m.

I've also heard good thing about the garmins but havnt used one myself. Another option would be a simrad go9(bit better than a ti2) although they will be around $1400

Go garmin. Way better build quality, they dont need endless updates and are supported longe.r As soon as a new lowrance model comes out so ends thier support for parts. Garmin EXCELLENT chirp and side scan. Reliable   and retain thier value.

hi Caza

Could I ask if you needed an external antenna for the new unit?

And if you installed it yourself or had someone do it for you?

Cheers
