My mate caught this today out from Garden Island in 20m, never seen one before but it looks sort of familiar. Look like some sort of Sargent Baker?

Thanks guys, I guess I really haven't fished metro waters enough. Thought it looked baker related. Like a whiting and baker mixed.

Should try dropping a Gulp
Should try dropping a Gulp on the pipeline off Dampier when chasing Sails. Get them by the 100 there.

Grinner/ Lizard fish
Painted grinner or its other name painted lizard fish. Same as the other comments, drop a lure in shallow behing the boat and you can catch heaps of the mongrels
