Don't think it's a spango.
Don't think it's a spango. The mouth shape is wrong and the colouration is slightly different.
Can see where you're coming from though...

weird coincidence! I work
weird coincidence! I work for an air freight courier company and sealanes sent about a 700kgs of seafood through us today, one of the eskies was opened and checked to see if it was packaged to air freight regulations and i had a look and it looked exactly like this fish, but on the label on the front of the esky im 80% sure it said sea trumpeter bream which i had never heard of. just did a google search and cant find it anywhere, maybe my memory is going and it was something else but im pretty sure thats what they were labelled as.

Its has coloring of a Emperor?. If you look at it and imagine the same color as a Black Bream....it is just about the same........Its actually a Sea Bream.....There really rare use to be in a fish book i owned....
Problem with google is you get all the other fish results from around the world, so you type in sea bream and get dolphin fish.....These are what i have found though....

After hunting around some more. I think its a bream cross with a spangled......and i do believe fish do cross breed now and then, hence stuff like this which clearly looks like a black bream, but has the markings of a spangled....

Emperor
I was up at Jurien on the weekend. On the new jettyI saw someone pull one of those in as well. Only about 15cm long but I was almost positive it was an emperor (blue lined or spango). Didnt think they came that far south but if they are now in Hillarys then Jurien is a definite possibility.
Who would have thunk it?
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

Blue lined with his fright colours on for my thinking.
I just love Exmouth: Its a quaint little drinking town with a fishing problem!
