It is a black drummer, girella elevata.  Supposedly a strong fighter.

Stars

They have NO stars next to them so I suppose they taste and have the same texture of seaweed.

Plenty of them in close

Tue, 2010-04-27 16:06

Plenty of them in close around Cape Naturaliste, my mate I used to fish with down there reckoned they are good eating. They're the same as the black fish they get over east and they eat them over there.

Cheers
Dale

Eastern staters

They eat buffs over there as well and I'm sure that I'm not even going to try,
Have got a couple of real thumpers off the rocks at Fish creek east of Windy harbour but released them without being tempted to give them a taste test
