Fisheries vs Cray Divers (Bret)

Tomorrow morning in the Supreme Court, Bret Carters case will be heard.
I believe in Court 7 at 10 am at the Supreme court ( Barrack and St Georges Tce) for 2 hours
Im away at work, but Id urge anyone around there to go in for support.
There is alot at stake for divers/fishers in general but especially for Bret personally above all.
He has had the courage to stand up to being bullied by Fisheries Officers, and Ive got my fingers crossed that the limitless resources of Fisheries dont over ride common sense and the average bloke.

I think we all hope that the magistrate/judge will look at the evidence look at the act, and bring down a judgement consistent with the way the legislation it is worded and what is the correct interpretation of the legislation.
Also just what is the intention of the legislation and is its wording consistent with its aim.
Is the appeal because D o F genuinely feels that the presiding magistrate of the original prosecution has made a mistake, or is D o F undertaking a veracious appeal against and interpretation of the legislation and they refuse to accept the magistrate/judges decision.
To appeal a judgement (as I understand it) is the right of
all of us.

Unless the judiciary is controlled by the government which I doubt, it just means that the judge will consider the case and present a decision.
Its common, if he just said "na fuck off your talking shit" they could appeal that it wasnt given due consideration.
Its normal and common practice.
If the DoF or Minister was able to tell a Supreme Court judge what to do, there would be way more problems to deal with than where we can gauge crays.

I attended the appeal proceedings today and l believe Bret can be well pleased with how things went. This is Bret's dance, not mine, so he can update you all as he sees fit.

im not suggesting the judiciary is controlled by the minister or the opposition in any way
merely that to remain A POLITICAL they have possibly chosen to consider the case as they often do and then deliver a verdict well after the state election , that given the possibility of a % of voters may cause a backlash depending on the outcome in what is shaping up to be a very tight race, any no of votes one way or another can have an impact
it may be a thought along with many other issues involved with this case that would not have escaped them imo
