Sets a precedent in WA on the basis of tormenting and killing a animal inhumanely . Apparently they were chasing a feed and didn’t have a rifle license so used a crowbar .
What’s your thoughts does it warrant 11 months in prison ?

Yeah I think so, I don't have a problem with people killing Roos with a gun or similar, 99% of these are culled for meat, but these guys surely were killing this animal for the sake of killing it. JMO.

If you hit a roo and its injured to the point its going to die slowly, then smacking it over the head to kill it would be more humane than letting it suffer all busted up.

Yep it isn't good when you run over an animal and it is critically injured and suffering, by dispatching it you are ending it's suffering and you didn't go out to cause a barbaric act and cause suffering like they did, I didn't see anything about one of them loosing his firearm licence though, you are probably right on the money with the reason he lost it.
My memory might not be as sharp as it once was so if I'm not 100% correct forgive me, some years back I thought the government of the day built an expensive internment camp way out in the bush for "troubled" youth. The big draw back with this establishment was that those who got caught breaking the law had to agree to be taken to this "correction facility" as it turned out there where no takers for staying in this government centre so it was never used.
If this facility is still available (as it was very isolated) it would be the ideal place IMO to send those members of society who are "troubled" too so they can sort their troubles out. and be educated in the fact that cruelty is not acceptable by society, the lesson being helped along by some vigorous sort of healthy outdoor exercise, like digging holes then filling them in the next day.

What you have said has merit and is another view which is good for society, it keeps us open minded.
The main point is that under the law you are not allowed to treat wild life or any other animal in this fashion, and if there is proof, such as there was then a person trained to apply the law does so without bias or prejudice, and that means if those who committed this act were engaging in sexual activity with his girl friend he should have disqualified himself from hearing the case, as it could be alleged that he was bias and the sentence appealed against.
Justice must not only be done without fear or favour it must be seen to be so.
