hi guys went for a fish last night at some where near woodmans point, being new to the area i dont really know the place
excactly but i went down near a boat ramp and then followed the road behind the dunes and came out where there was a rock wall
we fished there with the kids and we caught a tiny flathead and a blue swimmer crab, we sdtayed a little past dark and was
watching the guys throw out glow sticks having never fished this area and being from darwin it raised my curiosity is there
anyone that can let me know what they where fishing for and what the place is where we went to.

That be the actual Woodies point
I presume they would've been chasing bread and butter fish....herring and the like...pretty shallow off that groyne...unless they had balloons on then they would've been been chasing big bities..the jetty opposite the ramp fairly reliable for squid after dark...coogee marina groyne closer to freo gets you into deeper water caught some decent skippy down there awhile ago...and small sand whiting on the inside...good place for kids to fish and the carpark is close...

Cockburn sound
You were fishing part of cockburn sound or woodies point you could call it, garden and carnac islands would have been out in front of you.
usally popular for the wind surfers and bread and butter species, try some burley next time which will help in these parts.
The glow sticks are used for tailor at night time, a set of gang hooks along with a full mulie.
Or possible shark fishing as stated.
