fishing overnight

-Hello fellow fisherman

I was wondering if anyone new what the laws are for fishing overnight on the beach?

If i take me swag and sleep in it for a couple of hours is this classed as camping.

If i fish all night and dont sleep is this classed as camping?

Pretty much what is camping and what isnt if any one knows the answer to this it would much apreciated.

I like to head down to white hills a couple of times a year and other such places and herd of

stories of people being busted by the rangers.

               Cheers Rusty

rusty69,

Why not ring the rangers and ask, they will happily give you the answer, it will either be the Mandurah or Waroona rangers try both, you may be suprised with the answer that they provide.

Cheers

I thought that camping at White Hills was ok as long as you stay on the beach, not in the dunes. Could have changed though.

You can sleep in your car.

You can sleep in your car. That's it. You cannot erect anything on the beach other than a gazebo of which you are not alowed to sleep under. Also no fires. Found this out on a trip down there a few years ago. It is patrolled heaps in peak periods but I reckon you would be unlucky to get caught this time of year.

Surprised by the different answers

Prior to moving up here (Kcity) lived in Parkridge (stumbling distance to the "old Lazy Crab Pub", now Bouvard tavern). Tims to busy, but Whitehills we always erected a shelter. As far as I am/was aware as long as you are fishing you arent camping. But yes someone has to be awake, but then I have never seen a ranger after MNight there and have been for a few o/nite Mulla bashes.

We usually have the big lines out (1 each) and play with a smaller set up getting live bait and Bread and butter species. Later each set 2 and use the lighter as a set line as well. Often with a few sherbits fall asleep in the chair, but we always tried to have at least one "awake" at any time.

Was told by a Ranger early one morning that fisheries could perceive that if one is awake, gaurding everyones lines, that you are "fishing" with more than your allocated 2 rods. So you couldnt watch a mates 2 whilst he was sleeping, and yours. I was a little surprised because if theirs went off a quick kick would have them bolt upright and into it.

Yes and no fires, but a gas cooker for brekkie was fine, but frowned at.

If you are a pr*ck to the rangers, rather than just nice you will soon find out that they can move you on as potential Jobbos. Stacey use to turn up in my days (not a bad looker) and as long as you showed responsibility and politeness she left us fishing. Some off the blokes were a little different, but somehow I found it was more related to whether they had a bad day or not.

Just from personal experience.

Attitude

A lot of the time it comes down to the attitude test, if you fail that, you're in for a hard time!  Respect and politeness are the keys..

and in all matters the same 'rules' apply.  Some work it out, some don't.

Sorry my comment is not related to fishing overnight.
