fishing steep point out of a tinnie

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of advice if anyone's keen to help out.

With the old man get a bit long in the tooth we made the decision to tow a couple of 4.5m tinnies up to the point instead of running around cliffs all day, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice on area's that they may have fished before? Or any general info would be awsome.

Thanks heaps

Good size for the area...fish the channel first lite...bottom boncing and trolling...if swell is down head outside and troll around the cliff (same as the boyz from up top on the rocks) Also head up the outside of Dirk fishing along the cliffs (watch swell)

Back inside head up to the point (inside Monkey rock) and fish the sand patches closer to the shore line change of light (EVENING) Head down inside the gulf past Sunday Island...look for the Eagles Nest on the cliff... out from there 5-9m sound around - bottom bounce drift (watch the different catch regs in here tho)

For bait - dig a hole on the beach drop a bucket in it with a fish head for some overnight crabs

Drop a crab down and hang on...

What camp did you get into?

Take some snorkling gear...

We take our 4.5m up there and swim (spearos) and rod fish out of it...a good size for the area and one of my favourite places to visit...tight lines good luck!

fantastic

I used to take our 14ft tinny in there and fished much the same as Tank suggested.

We caught everything imaginable in South Passage and lost a lot of mystery fish too.

There are/were crays around Monkey Rock and may be worth a dive there.

If you go over to the sanctury zone just off DHI the diving there is just fantastic. Very shallow with lovely coral and all the colourful little coral fishes. NO spearing or fishing in the zone. Just take your camera.

I would vote for dingy fishing up there as No 1 and  you wont be dissapointed.

Good fishing off the beach too and at night can be fantastic fun.

Cheers

Terry

Google the ranger

Touch base with the residential ranger...he manages the bookings...heard it was getting busier than the Mitchell at peak hour...
