Fishing for tailor north mole

Hi everyone. I was thinking of fishing for some tailor or other good fish on the north mole next week. Could you please tell me some good rigs, time to go and the best spot on the north mole is to fish. Thanks!

Have not fished for tailor for awhile, standard rig is gang hooks & floating rig with night time fisherman using glow sticks. Far end of the north mole is where a lot of people fish, I have only ever Caught -50cm fish though.

Well good luck, if you have mastered bream fishing tailor fishing will be pretty easy,  pretty much being at the right place at the right time. Hope you clean up mate!

Best time to go is an hour

Fri, 2014-01-31 21:54

Best time to go is an hour either side of sunset, though the bite can last into the night. Is there any reason you wish to fish the North Mole? Personally, I think it's a dump. Scrambling over odd-shaped rocks in the dark is terrible. Give me a beautiful beach with clean water lapping at your ankles any day.

The reason is that we do not have the fishing rods for the beaches

agree with Geoff and peg, all

agree with Geoff and peg, all u need is a 9ft rod and 3000-4000 size reel with 20lb braid max and u can fish for tailor off the beach. I use a 9ft spin rod with 20lb braid and still get good distance with lures and bait. I know why u want to fish north mole as people say they get good ones there. But sometimes its not worth the effort, some very rude people down ther and gets very crowded. Regardless of what I say still give it a go and let us know how u went. However if u do get the chance head down to floreat or city beach and give it a go there in the afternoon.

it's a bit short.

It's a bit short if there's any kind of surf break. In flat conditions it would be ok. Ideally, you'd like to be able to hold your line above the shore break.

7ft is ok for flicking lures

Sun, 2014-02-02 19:23

7ft is ok for flicking lures but for bait I would fish no shorter than 9ft as it gets hard to keep the line over the waves. Btw I went down to north mole last night, not a single tailor caught when I was there, was there till 8:30pm. Too many people and no fish at all, I left after some guys kept casting over me and getting tangled with me. Honestly the amount of people who fish with heavy wire at north mole for tailor amazes me.
