Fishing today off Hillarys 5/2/2010
Howdy there! Late start this morning, got to the ramp at 7am, about 40 trailers in the carpark. Headed straight out to the mid 40s. The ride out there was a bit sloppy, with a 15kn easterly . Arrived at our spot around 8am, and the fish seem to stay on the bite till about 10am, then all went quiet. We managed to catch a feed.
Claire clocked in with nice blackarse and a nice 57cm flathead. I managed to catch another big cuttlefish, on my bottom bashing rig, using squid for bait! I also dropped a bloody big fish at the start of the day, but we wont be mentioning that now will we.
Stopped at the 32m mark out front of scabs on the way home, and picked up a nice feed of whiting, which seem to be very plump at the moment.
Great day on the water...with the weekend still to come!

Shame about losing the big fish Wade, but we won't discuss that.

Wade
follow ya missus lead and crack a smile - anyone would think you weren't enjoying yourself!
Nice work, getting a feed is half the battle. Props to Claire, great flattie. Pity you dropped a potential monster, no worse feeling I reckon (not that I want to remind you or anything) LOL.

Thats a nice Flattie.
C'mon Wade, what's with the dropped fish...shhhh sorry I wasn't supposed to mention that.
Are you going to eat the Cuttly or use it as bait? Either way a great capture. It was lovely out there today. overcast, warm not hot and plenty of bites to keep us busy.
Cheers

Thanks for the comments everyone! I was pretty stoked with the Flatty - fought me all the way up but I had the last laugh!
Believe it or not, I don't always outfish Wade. He's just being nice to me as he knows "Happy Wife = Happy Life"! I keep reminding him he is a great skipper putting me on these fish! But if that monster hadn't got away today none of my photos would even be worth putting up.....
Oh yeah, Tim, there is a reason we head closer into shore before we take our photos! Zoom in on that photo to your hearts content, I can guarantee you will catch 10cm flatty's there!

Well done guys
Nice flatty and that's a fair lump of cuttle fish there. Looked like a lovely day just to be out. I'm sure with the wind down there will be chaos at the ramp this weekend!!!!!
