Cheers Russ! LOL

Yeah, it's a pretty full list LOL - but that said, (hence the footnote disclaimer), the list can vary as you well know, dependent on your boat, circumstances and other things. The aim was to get people thinking and to be comprehensive for their circumstances. Laughing

I guess I'm a bit of a detail and process pig Tongue out

I didn't mentioned the Beer Esky because I assumed no one would ever forget that Cool

Oh, and I might add

As those that have the mag would already know, the check list was just a tail end contributuon to the article on Boat Ramp Ettiquette - something I thought that was sorely needed, especially coming up to the 'crazy (boat ramp) season' Wink

No ettequitte

sometimes at the woodie point public ramp, my god seen fight ti cuffs down there, blokes waiting patiently and some pro (crabber) just pulled in ahead of everybody else, you can imagine the air (air 40 degrees also) was blue.  I also think speed leading upto ramps also, 6knots in the inner harbor here at club, some come in doing 20knots, the damn bow wave they create while you are trying to get your boat out quickly for the next one behind is something that is a total pain as well. It seems nobody has patience anymore on the water, personally think its getting worse.

Boat ramp etiquette never

Fri, 2008-10-31 14:14

Boat ramp etiquette never happens at woodman point , take a few weekends ago six areas to  launch and retrieve boats.  Three ramp at the time had a boat each waiting for the trailer to be backed in . One bloke it a tinny was on the other one bearhugging the pylon because he had no rope and was waiting for the owner to come back but wouldnt move the boat up to the end of the gangways so we could put in  , and the two furtherest ramps  two seperate cars had left their cars backed in to the water so they could get thier jet ski's on easier . . All this while three boats sat there ready to put in for more than half an hour . An then because of the partial exit lane closure on the ramp other cars were bringing their boats in to put in but because we parked in the reverese lane they had to keep out of the way . Cant wait for the new ramp to be opened but i here it hasn't got final approval yet .

Thats EXACTLY why I wrote the article. In the (perhaps vane) hope that the message would get around on how to be efficient at boat ramps.  Yes I know, one can only hope - but one has to to try. As I wrote in the article, whilt the RST was a necessary and (incremental) great step forward, it never covered 'Boat Rampt Ettiquette'. The other side of the issue is that new boaties (and I, along with all of us, where one once) don't have anything that gives them some incite on this issue. Oh; and yes, well, there will; always be those who'se belligerent attitude can't be 'assisted'. Wink

Two Rocks Ramp

Fri, 2008-10-31 15:11

When I lived at Two Rocks, always used the ocean side ramp, son[deepwater was about 12-15yrs old]would drive boat[24foot star] off trailer, circle round untill I parked car and got to end of jetty, nose boat in and pick me up.Each time we asked the waiting drivers which side they were going to use so no one got upset.

On return he would drop me on jetty and circle untill I'd backed the trailer in ,drive boat on,I would secure boat and drive off with him still on board. The whole thing both launching and retrieval took only a matter of 2-3 minutes.

The main problem is that not many boats use the sea side ramp because of there is only one person who can drive the boat/car or will not trust someone else with it.

But i can remember also not

Fri, 2008-10-31 15:42

But i can remember also not long ago in the afternoon when i was putting my boat in and a youbg boy of about 7 ran up the jetty and asked me if i wanted to  chuck him the rope so he could give me a hand , Times of that used to bring me back to when i was young and a jetty rat around geelong chasing tommy ruff's ( herring ) and small pinkies .

One thing i remember when

Sat, 2008-11-01 07:56

One thing i remember when doing the RST was to run the engine up to temp and make sure the thermostat opened prior to leaving the jetty. When launching at Tworocks you havnt got time to scratch ya arse and there is five other boats starring at you to move off. Some peanut had the nerve to winge at my missus while I drove the boat up onto the trailer too. She just said " Would you rather we winch it on and take 10min longer", Haha that shut him right up.
