Flat Battery
Submitted by Shane O on Tue, 2010-01-26 19:00
I have a battery that has gone flat, we had a jump start and it went fine. Then turned off the motor after about 10 mins, then tried to start agian and nothing., the trim works and all the lights work. Am i best going and getting the battery checked, not sure how old the battery is? Motor worked fine after a jump start so guessing it's the battery.

can u switch ur dials to see what voltage teh regualtor i pumping out ? mine is about 14.2 so I know its charging as its well above 12 it needs more then 10min to charge back up by the way, however if u dont know the age of the battery I wold get a quality marine battery either way one unless u have dual dont risk it.

Replace the battery
You will probably find a cell is on its way out which reduces the cold cranking amps the battery is producing, even though u may still have voltage to run the gauges ect. The starter motor requires these amps to turn the motor over. Would suggest getting a new battery, better to be safe than sorry.

dont worry about getting it checked
if its not doing its job its probably on its way out, better to spend te money on a quility battery
also if it was just idleing that doesnt put much charge back in the already dead battery, you gotta work it a bit
if the new battery does the same then start looking at alternators and so on
