I am passing on the tipping comp, but will partake in the banter.
It starts with an absolute ball cracker of a game!
Richmond vs Carlton. Hard to pick a loser in this one. I will go with the tigers to win.
Pressure to grow on buckley when the bulldogs beat them.
Saints / melbourne, one of the better matches. Going to go for the saints at etihad.
Swans to thump port
Hawks to beat essendon
Suns and lions. Who cares? Suns and micky barlow to star.
Roos and west coast. Experts say if west coast win this they will firm as flag favourites. Really? Its north melbourne ffs. If west xoast dont win this, theyre pretenders, not contenders.
Crows and giants. Another potentially good game, but the afl will ensure a giants win.
And freo v geelong. I think freo will be competitive and this game closer than expected, but the team needs 6 months or so to gel. Looking for freo's game plan to develop throughout the season. Geelong will be too polished this time around.

Round 1 throws some surprises each year - and shows people have forgotten to look at facts.
eg... Adelaide at home has to be one of the fortresses... How is AFL doctoring this? GWS are lacking in the backs round 1, Adelaide GUN talls. And I love GWS and think they will win nearly every game, but Adelaide has to be a strong chance.
Same Geelong will be good, but Dockers to win at home (they usually do when they are half decent).
West Coast Kangas games nearly always go to home team... West Coast with no Nic Nat away should not be faves, even if North are down on last year.
Lions - new coach - usually improves performance a lot... but at Metricon Gold Coast
Essendon ??? who knows. Hawks probably
Collingwood few injuries - happy to go the DogS
Swans solid
melbourne - which team turns up ... new coach... give them a chance, but Saints at Etihad for me.
richmond beat carlton round 1... that is how the season starts every year....
Oh and by the way... a multi of $1 on my tips yields $183.... hmmmm probably not going to happen

West Coast brutal in front of goal and great to see Lecca return to his best throughout the pre season and into round 1. Jack Darling looks like a player completely devoid of confidence and was second to the ball all day long and even then he was inneffective in putting meaningful pressure on.
I don't know why Barras didn't play but I can only hope it's in the place of either Nelson or Emac next week.

What we saw at domain was top 4 v bottom 4. Its going to take freo time to gel. Geelong were very very good
Would have liked the margin to be less, but hey it is early days. We will see a better freo in the back half of the season.
As for owen, lots of teams looming for him so you can stop with the owen jokes until round 3 at least.
